Emily in Paris

Emily in Paris

Announced to the public a few months back, the show following Emily’s (Lily Collins) abrupt move to Paris, was finally released last Friday, the 2nd of October and since then thousands of people, myself included, have watched and formed an opinion about the show.

The fashion. Knowing that Patricia Fields, famous for her work on Sex and The City and The Devil Wears Prada, was going to be the show’s costume designer was one of the main reasons I wanted to watch it in the first place. From an homage to Audrey Hepburn, a reminiscent piece that would have been part of Carrie Bradshaw’s wardrobe, a “clicheic” red beret or the gorgeous style of Sylvie, a French Miranda Priestly played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, the fashion doesn’t disappoint at all.

And while there’s certain question marks about Emily’s shopping habits, isn’t that what makes things even more interesting? As for the occasional cliches regarding the French that the internet was criticising over the past few days, I personally find them fun and entertaining to watch, even if most of them aren’t true 🙂

Though I am not usually one to compare shows, I have to say there are certain similarities between this and Darren Star’s other hit creations, Beverly Hills 90210 and Sex and The City, which is why I think Emily in Paris will be greatly enjoyed by many and may become, to generation Z and millennials, what those other two shows were for their generations.

Have you watched the show? Let me know what your favourite characters, episodes of fashion moments were in the comments or via Instagram.

Until next time…
