A week in Switzerland

A week in Switzerland

As you may have seen on my Instagram, I was away last week, on a trip to Crans-Montana, Switzerland. It was actually a ski trip, so I didn’t get as many shots of the city as I would have liked, as I was on the slopes most of the time, but I’ve seen enough to say I would be happy to go back some day.

Crans-Montana is this relatively small city know for its ski slopes, at a distance of about 180km to Geneva, which takes around 2-3 hours, depending on the traffic situation.

The place is what I would typically describe as a happy little touristic city, full of nice people, stores and cafes.

the flight

Yay to long flights! It took 7 hours to get from Dubai to Geneva, which were added to the 1 hour and a half waiting at baggage claim and the bus ride to the mountains. I’m used to long car rides ever since I was little and have grown to enjoy long journeys, as I find there’s so much to do when you don’t have any internet connection or anyone bothering you. I like to divide my flights in 2 parts: first I try to get done anything that I may have left on a to do list and be productive, and then I relax by watching a movie and, as was the case here, play solitaire for 2 hours, or read a good book.

the chalét & slopes

We stayed in a small chalét by the slopes, which I wasn’t immediately a fan of, but got used to quickly.

I’m no expert, but I used to go skiing for a week (3 days of which would always be spent strolling around and shopping) to Bulgaria before moving, so I consider myself a decent skier. I was happy to see a variety of slopes and skiers, there were so many groups of adorable toddlers skiing on black slopes, which I found so fun and motivating 🙂

the city

We got to walk around the city for a bit one afternoon and I was impressed by the simplicity of it, both cheap and high end stores surrounded by the same beautiful wooden textures. Everything had this peaceful feel to it, and I was so glad to have escaped the pollution and noise of daily life.

I’m curious to hear some of your favourite places to travel to, or that you went to recently, you can let me know in the comments or via Instagram.

Until next time…

?kisses,
